The estate is located in the town of Castiglion Fibocchi in the Province of Arezzo, to the northwest of the city of Arezzo. It is nestled within the slopes of Pratomagno, an Apennine ridge which rises between the Casentino and the Valdarno valleys. The Upper Valdarno region has been producing prestigious wines for over 300 years, the reason for which in 1716 the Grand Duke Cosimo III de Medici inserted the region on the list which demarcates four zones of Chianti Classico, Chianti Pomino, Chianti Rufina and doc Valdarno.
Among the factors that have favoured the birth of great wines produced in this region, apart from the skills of local winemakers, is also the particular type of terroir . The estate extends over 100 hectares, and consists of vineyards, olive groves and woodland characterized by plants typical of the region, such as Oak and Holly Oak. The agricultural activity of the estate has its roots in the immediate post-war period, when it was purchased by Riccardo Gagliardi, a professional cyclist, known to most for the feat that led him to the victory of the Giro d'Italia in 1925 .
Hence the production of wine and extra virgin olive oil has a long history, which continues even today, thanks to the commitment and knowledge handed down from four generations , in respect to nature and ancient rural traditions. Our vineyards have been renewed over the years in both diversity and planting systems. Our passion is to produce wines from indigenous vines of the Valdarno area, planting and experimenting with old vines, the production of which has been almost lost, such as the "Foglia tonda" and the "Colorino del Valdarno" The extra virgin olive oil is produced within the estate at the owner's olive-press, through the cultivation and harvesting of olives according to traditional methods.
